TIGHITCO Inc., a renowned manufacturer of aerospace and defense products, is pleased to announce a new partnership with S3 AeroDefense, a leading provider of military aircraft spares, maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services. TIGHITCO, a leading provider of advanced composite structures and assemblies, is pleased to announce its selection by Sikorsky for the production phase of a cutting-edge aerostructure system designed to enhance the Black Hawk Helicopter UH-60 platform. This program underscores TIGHITCO’s commitment to delivering superior quality and innovation in the aerospace and defense industry. The company’s Complex Composites Division, with locations in Charleston, South Carolina and Berlin, Connecticut, has been selected to provide manufacturing support for advanced systems on all Black Hawk platforms, represents a minimum of a five-year program valued at $134M. Deliveries for this program start in Q4 2024.

The new system which has been in collaborative development for nearly a decade, will be used on Sikorsky’s Black Hawk Helicopter UH-60 platform and be a critical component for the aircraft’s performance and safety. TIGHITCO’s Complex Composites Division has a proven track record of delivering high-quality and innovative solutions for the aerospace and defense industry. TIGHITCO is pleased to announce that their MRO division, Overhaul Support Services, has been selected to lead the overhaul program for the U.S. Army’s CH-47 swashplates. This $28M overhaul program, which has just received customer approval, is expected to cover all units on the Army and FMS-operated Chinooks, with initial deliveries scheduled for Q1 2025.

The CH-47 Chinook is a critical aircraft for the U.S. Army, used for a variety of missions, including troop and cargo transport, medical evacuation, and disaster relief. As such, it is crucial that the aircraft’s components, such as the swashplates, are maintained to the highest standards. TIGHITCO’s MRO division has a proven track record of providing top-notch overhaul services, making them the ideal choice for this program.

TIGHITCO INC, is pleased to announce their new Group Vice President of Sales & Business Development, Malissa Nesmith. Nesmith will be responsible for providing collaborative leadership, growth, and planning for new and existing business between its US, and Mexico facilities.

Malissa has over 28 years of aviation experience, beginning with her time at Raytheon Aircraft Company in Wichita, Kansas. She has spent the past decade working in aftermarket spares support, followed by tenure with Lee Aerospace, combining her aftermarket experience with the manufacturing side of the industry. Since 2019, Malissa has served as the Sr. Director of Business Development for Kaman Composite Structures.

“We are fortunate to have someone with Malissa’s breadth and depth of experience join our team. Her focus will be on strategic new MRO business, Insulation Products, and our complex composites offerings,” shared Mark Withrow, CEO, TIGHITCO. “She will continue to expand our current markets and will be a driving force growing new opportunities.”

Malissa has been an active member of a number of industry associations, including NBAA, AIA, GAMA, ASA, AEA and EAA. She has served on the Board of Directors for the Aviation Distributors and Manufacturers Association and the Wichita Aero Club. Malissa holds a bachelor’s degree in business communications from the University of Kansas, as well as an MBA from Baker University.

The program will include a range of machined details and sheet metal assemblies, with first deliveries set for Q4 2024.

The collaboration between TIGHITCO LATINOAMERICA S.A. de C.V., and DCM Group Aerospace will bring together the expertise and capabilities of both companies to provide high-quality, reliable parts for the Airbus A220.
